The idea of the European Union is a community of 25 states for mutual benefit, including better cooperation and less restriction.
However, the European Union today has some ways to go to realize that ideal. Today's reality is divided communities that aren't always able to reconcile different cultures and interests. The EU is troubled by fundamental differences between its members. They are often unable to reach agreement even on the most basic issues.
For the majority of the residents of the 25 EU states, a far away country within the Union is just as much a white spot on the map as any unknown country across the globe. What we don't know anything about, we can't understand, and without understanding, there is no cooperation either.
What can be done to increase understanding within the Union?
